Open-carrier confidence plan

Make the carrier an available place without surprise closure.

With the carrier stable and its door secured open, a cat may approach, enter voluntarily or leave. Keep the door open throughout this lesson; do not add lifting or travel.
Looking or approaching can be a valid first step. Open-door practice must not turn into surprise confinement.
Pause and recall

What will you keep unchanged when the cat first enters?

  1. Check the carrier and secure the door open before inviting the cat.
  2. Keep essential food and normal resources accessible elsewhere.
  3. A current medical need overrides the training schedule.
