Worksheets & session plans
Illustrative tabby leaving a low open hide, with a stable scratching post and clear walking space.
Notice the separate hide, scratching surface and open route. Offer choices your cat can reach.Teaching illustration.

Lesson duration includes reading, planning, worksheets and reflection. Optional cat practice is brief, voluntary and stops at the first sign of discomfort; the listed minutes are never a confinement or handling target. Fictional cases and observation-only activities count: no cat has to participate for a score.

Record what you see, including context. Keep possible explanations separate. If unsure about contact, pause and give space.

Notice first: learn your cat’s everyday signals

Build an observation habit that separates what you see from what you assume, and lets your cat choose whether to interact.

Open lesson
Example resource map: a safe retreat; separate food, water and litter locations; room for play; cat-led interaction; familiar scents and quiet. Keep routes usable and resources accessible.

Build a home with places to hide, rest and choose

Turn the five environmental needs into a workable room plan, using safe, low-cost changes before buying equipment.

Open lesson
Check food against the existing care plan, fresh accessible water, and clean reachable litter. Record time, observations and unknowns; share changes with the veterinary team.
care-0330 min study

Make food, water and litter routines easier to use

Create a clear daily care handoff, spot access problems and recognize when changes need veterinary attention.

Open lesson
Inspect materials, offer one easy activity, let the cat choose how to engage, then pause and put equipment away. Watching or leaving is allowed; ordinary nutrition remains available.
care-0425 min study

Offer play and easy foraging without pressure

Design short, adaptable play invitations and an easy food-search activity while protecting normal feeding and rest.

Open lesson
Two labeled routes show each cat reaching separate food, water and litter locations. Check for blocking or retreat; do not force cats to share a station or meet.
care-0530 min study

Support scratching and peaceful access in shared homes

Work with normal scratching and notice subtle competition without forcing cats to share or interact.

Open lesson
Emergency examples such as breathing difficulty, collapse or straining with little or no urine require emergency veterinary care. New or persistent changes need a veterinary call. An ordinary preference can be observed. If unsure, call.
care-0630 min study

Adjust care when needs change and know when to call

Make a practical observation and referral plan for changing mobility, routines and health without diagnosing at home.
